Importance of Colors at Indian Weddings

12:52 pm Unknown
Indian weddings are traditionally seen as a majestic and colorful event that can go from a few days to a week or more than that in some cases. As the country of India has always be seen a uniquely diverse country when it comes to religion, cultures and traditions. The color of red has been the most popular color for brides as it is considered to be highly auspicious, but in the recent past few years the weddings have a bigger diversity of colors.

The Bride

•   Whatever be the color of the wedding dress, the use of lots of ornaments is necessary for a traditional Indian bride. Accessories made of gold like the necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings and the ornaments worn in the hair are worn jointly. Gold represents opulence and wealth.

The Groom
•    There is a huge variety of Clothes to wear at a wedding and there are a lot of options for the Indian groom in this time. Conventionally, grooms used to the trousers with long jacket with embroidery work on it (some of the types have a Nehru collar while others have no collar at all) some grooms prefer to keep it simple by sporting a Kurta pajama. The grooms in the Southern part of India are limited to a very small choice or rather we should say no choice of color as they get only pure white for their wedding day. As the south Indian grooms are constricted to only white color the grooms in the northern part of the country are free to choose any color from red to maroon or magenta. No matter what the colors of their kurtas are all the grooms have one thing in common is the turban or “phetas” which are worn above the head are worn in different ways. Even though black is usually considered the color of evil in India, the grooms of the modern times also wear western style suits or tuxedos in black.

Most popular colors for Indian Brides and Grooms:

Red or Maroon:

These colors and most of its shades have been on the top since a very long time. And it won’t be unfair to declare these as the most popular colors in the Indian weddings. The most important factor that these have been so popular because the traditions and cultures consider red color as the “color of a married woman.”
This tradition has boosted the use of red colors highly in Indian weddings. It is also important to note that this versatile color suits ever3yone.

Pink:
If red or maroon does not come among your choice of colors, it is advised to go for a softer shade that is the color of pink. The color of pink is very popular color among the Gujarati, North Indian, and Bengali brides. This color looks best when matched with accessories which are in the color of silver and the only bad thing about the color of pink is that it suits lighter skin tones. If you have a dark skin tone, you need not to worry as there are many other shades of pink that look gorgeous on people of a darker skin tone.

Orange:
Orange color suits the Indian skin and looks good on almost everyone. It also goes very well with the combinations of golden, green and blue color, and hence it becomes very easy and convenient to pick up right accessories for the dress.

Navy Blue:
This can be considered among one of the colors that look good on the Indians We believe it’s on the list because of how it makes you stand out of the crowd. But be careful! This color doesn’t suit every skin tone.
